Curriculum Vitae:
Maria João Cardoso has been appointed as Head Breast Surgeon at the Breast Unit of the Champalimaud Cancer Center in 2011. Her undergraduate and post graduate studies were undertaken at the Porto Faculty of Medicine. She dedicated her carrier to breast surgery and started her training in oncoplastic surgery at the Institut Gustave Roussy in France with Jean Yves Petit and Lise Barreu. From 2007 to 2010 she was Clinical Director of the S. João Hospital Breast Unit in Porto. From 2004-2010 member of the Ethics Committee at S. João Hospital, Porto. She holds a PhD in Medicine from University of Porto with the topic of objective evaluation of aesthetic results in breast cancer conservative treatment. Since then the majority of her research activity is related to this topic and the development of objective ways of evaluating aesthetic results in all forms of breast surgery, aiming at a better quality of life for patients. From 2006 to 2011 she was appointed Assistant Professor of the Department of Surgery of the Porto Faculty of Medicine. Dr MJ Cardoso is co-coordinator of the Breast Research group at INESC Porto with Professor Jaime Cardoso. Until 2012, she has published more than 20 papers on international journals as first author, with an average impact factor is 3.1 according to the JCR 2010. Until 2012, she has also co-authored more than 80 full communications in major international conferences. She is a member of the editorial board of The Breast journal and a reviewer of several topic international journals. One of her main interests is also quality of life of breast cancer patients and she founded in 2011 a Support Centre for Breast Cancer Patients, Mama Help (www.mamahelp.pt). She is a member of the board of the Portuguese Society of Senology.

Jaime S. Cardoso was born in Argivai, Povoa de Varzim, Portugal, in 1976. He graduated in Electrical and Computers Engineering from the Faculdade de Engenharia, Universidade do Porto, Portugal, in 1999. He received the M.Sc. degree in Mathematical Engineering in 2005 from Faculdade de Ciencias, Universidade do Porto, Portugal and the Ph.D. degree from the Faculdade de Engenharia, Universidade do Porto, in 2006.
He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Departamento de Engenharia Electrotecnica e de Computadores da Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto.
Since 1999, he is a researcher at INESC TEC, an R&D institute affiliated to Universidade do Porto.
His research interests include machine learning and image/video processing.

Hélder P. Oliveira was born in Porto, Portugal, in 1980. He graduated in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2004, received the M.Sc. degree in Automation, Instrumentation and Control in 2008 and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2013 at the Faculdade de Engenharia, Universidade do Porto, Portugal.
He is currently working as Senior Researcher at INESC TEC - Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores, Tecnologia e Ciência, a R&D institute affiliated to the Universidade do Porto, in the Visual Computing and Machine Intelligence Group (VCMI) and in the Breast Research Group.
He is also working at the Departamento de Ciências de Computadores of the Faculdade de Ciências of the Universidade do Porto as an Invited Assistant Professor. Between 2014 and 2016 he was contracted as Invited Assistant Professor at Departamento de Engenharia Informática of the Faculdade de Engenharia of the Universidade do Porto. Previously between 2008 and 2011 was working as Invited Assistant in the same Faculty and Department.
Hélder Oliveira is also Project Member in 2 funded research project related with Advanced Methodologies for Computer-Aided Detection and Diagnosis (BCCT.plan and NanoSTIMA). In the past was also project member in 3 other funded projects (one European and 2 National) and 3 other as research assistant.
He was the founded member and coordinator (between 2010 and 2013) of the Bio-related Image Processing and Analysis Student’s Group (BioStar) of the Faculdade de Engenharia, Universidade do Porto.
Since 2007 has co-authored 10 articles on international journals, all except two with impact factor, with an average value of 4.251, according to the Journal Citation Reports 2016. He has 1 patent pending, 2 book chapters and also 42 works in major refereed international conferences, 20 articles in national refereed conferences and participated in the creation of 3 public datasets. In total, these publications have attracted over 328 citations and correspond to an h-index of 11, using Harzing’s Publish or Perish application on August 7, 2017.
He is one of the mentors and belongs to the organizer committee of the VISion Understanding and Machine Intelligence (VISUM) summer school in 4 of the 5 editions of the event.
Hélder Oliveira is currently supervising 6 PhD Students and co-supervise 1 other. During his career supervised (or co-supervised) 19 MSc students.

Hélder Oliveira is member of Portuguese Association of Pattern Recognition (APRP) and was been elected for president of the fiscal council in 2017.
His research interests include medical image analysis, bio-image analysis, computer vision, image and video processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence and 3D modelling.

Curriculum Vitae:
Hooshiar started his career in studying computer engineering at Shahed University of Tehran. His career began on investigation on quantum computers, under the supervision of Dr. Nasser Mohammadzaheh, who was a successful researcher in quantum computation field.
Right after graduation, he started to study MSc in computer engineering. Having no access to equipped quantum labs, he had to change his field radically, from quantum computation to medical image processing.
Hooshiar did his master thesis in retinal image detection under the supervision of Prof. AhmadReza Naghsh-Nilchi, and could finish his master with 2 conference papers, together with 2 journal articles.
Currently, he is in the field of 2D image to 3D model processing. He is doing a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Helder Oliveira, and advised by Prof. Jaime Cardoso.

João Teixeira was born in Porto, Portugal, in 1991. He received his M.Sc. in Electrical and Computers Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto, Portugal, in 2014. In 2014, he started his Ph.D. studies at Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, Portugal, under the joint program in Informatics (MAP-i). He has been working since 2015 as a researcher at INESC TEC, an R&D institute affiliated to University of Porto, in the Visual Computing and Machine Intelligence Group (VCMI), and the Breast Research Group. João Teixeira has a standing collaboration and has been consulting for a R&D department of the Faculty of Medicine (FMUP), the Center for Health Technology and Services Research (CINTESIS), since 2013.
His main research interests include computer vision, image processing, signal processing, with particular interest in medical applications (Breast cancer and Respiratory conditions) and m-health initiatives.

Sílvia received the MSc. in Bioengineering - Biomedical Engineering,  from the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP), Portugal, in March, 2016.
Early in her undergraduate years, she interned at National Institute of Biomedical Engineering (INEB), contributing in the NeurOn project - a project founded by FCT to conceive a new approach for regeneration and functional recovery of spinal cord injury. Here, she discovered my interest of promoting research through the use image analysis as a tool to obtain results in a faster, more reliable and less subjective way.
The leapt for medical image analysis came with the opportunity to join the Breast Cancer Survey (BCS) project, a project in a consortium of FEUP, Coimbra University (UC), Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC) and Emílio Azevedo Campos.SA (EAC.SA),  which aimed at developing automatic modules of screening and diagnosis of breast cancer to be implemented on PACS.
Currently, she is a PhD student in the informatics joint programme MAPi, a member of Visual Computing and Machine Learning (VCMI) and Breast Research Groups at INESC TEC, and a collaborator in the project BCCT.plan.
Her main research interests are image analysis, machine learning and decision support systems, particularly in the area of breast cancer.

Sara Oliveira was born in Coimbra, Portugal, in 1992.
She received the MSc. Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Faculty of Sciences and Technology of University of Coimbra, Portugal, in 2016. Since 2016 she has been working as Researcher at INESC TEC, a R&D institute affiliated to the University of Porto, in the Visual Computing and Machine Intelligence Group (VCMI) and in the Breast Research Group. José is a Ph.D. from University of California, San Diego - USA, in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Currently a Research Fellow at INESCTEC, Porto - Portugal, in the Visual Computing and Machine Intelligence group with the supervision of Prof. Jaime Cardoso.
His professional activities started in October 2000, in Porto. Having received his Licenciatura in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Porto, Portugal, he has started my career as a network engineer at Vodafone. In 2005, he has joined the IP division of Alcatel-Lucent in Lisbon, providing professional services for major telecom carriers in the EMEA region. Concurrently to these professional activities, in 2003 he has completed an M.A. in Applied Mathematics under the guidance of Prof. André Puga, also at University of Porto. In 2008 José joined the doctoral program in "Intelligent Systems, Robotics and Control" at UC San Diego, where he has concluded both M.Sc. (2011) and Ph.D. (2015) under the supervision of Prof. Nuno Vasconcelos.
His areas of research cover two main topics: 1) automatic scene understanding and 2) computer-aided detection tools for medical imaging; both have a significant overlap between Computer Vision and Machine Learning, and deal with substantial amounts of data.

Susy Costa, born in 1970, graduated from Oporto University in 1996 and underwent surgical training (residency in general surgery) at Hospital Sao Joao, Porto.
Since always, she demonstrated particular interest in breast pathology, working in collaboration with MJ Cardoso, Consultant Breast Surgeon, to define the parameters introduced in the artificial intelligence module and used to evaluate the aesthetical results in breast cancer conservative treatment.
In 2004, she attended the European Advanced Level Course in Breast Disease Management in Budapest and after completing her surgical training she began to differentiate towards a breast cancer specialist.

Ana Paula Afonso was born in Portugal in 1964. She graduated in Mathematics/Computer-Science in 1988 and completed a post-graduation in Computer-Science in 1998, from Universidade Portucalense. In 2001 she received a M.Sc. degree in Computer Science with a thesis entitled " An evaluation of Web Interfaces" from Universidade Portucalense in 2001.
She is currently Adjunct-Professor at the Scientific Area of Computer-Science at ISCAP.
She is also author of several books in the area of the Computer-Science.
Distinguished author, in the "XIV Jornadas Luso-Espanholas de Gestao Cientifica", with the 2nd award in the area of the educational Experiences with the work "Computer-Science II on-line", Azores, 2004.
Her research interests include Human-Computer Interaction (Interfaces) and Systems Usability.
